TekSoft to feature CAMWorks & FABWorks at IMTS

Announces aggressive CAM conversion pricing

Scottsdale, Arizona August 24, 2006 TekSoft, an industry leader in developing advanced manufacturing software, will be demonstrating CAMWorks 2007 and the latest release of FABWorks at IMTS 2006 in Chicago on September 6-13. Information will also be available on the newly announced CAM conversion promotion for users of competitive CAM products.

CAMWorks is a SolidWorks® Certified Gold CAM Product that has provided state-of-the-art machining capabilities seamlessly integrated into the award winning SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software since 1997. The combination of the latest innovations in CAMWorks 2007 and SolidWorks' excellence in design continue to make CAMWorks a premier CAM and mold machining solution.

CAMWorks 2007 delivers a powerful set of over 50 enhancements and new features that improve performance, toolpath quality and control, and ease of use. Performance improvements include faster file save and restore, simulation and toolpath computation. New toolpath controls have been implemented for 2-5 axis milling, turning and wire EDM to improve quality and decrease machining time. In addition, numerous user interface options for display, navigation and working with SolidWorks part configurations make CAMWorks even easier to use.

Highlights in this release of CAMWorks include the following:

  • A new generation of Automatic Feature Recognition finds additional feature types and provides more editing capability.

  • Multiple CAMWorks datasets can be saved in the same part file with CAMWorks configurations. These configurations support multiple machines and SolidWorks configurations.

  • Support for arc fitting in 3-Axis Milling has been extended to all cycles.  When this feature is used, the CAMWorks file size is smaller, simulation is faster and the resulting G-code program is smaller.

  • The machining of part configurations in assembly mode has been enhanced to offer greater flexibility and additional use of SolidWorks part configurations.

TekSoft is offering a limited time conversion program for users of other CAM products to switch to CAMWorks cost-effectively and with a low risk migration of parts. According to Mike Coleman, President and CEO of TekSoft, "We realize that some manufacturers want to explore the enhanced functionality of a top-quality CAM package while also retaining the ability to use the tried-and-true software that’s already in their facility. This offer allows shops to transition gradually to CAMWorks. With our aggressive pricing, we expect a large number of companies to take advantage of this promotion."

The latest version of TekSoft's FABWorks product will also be featured at the show. TekSoft obtained distribution rights for the industry-leading Lantek sheet metal software for punching, laser, water jet, plasma and oxyfuel machines and released the software under the FABWorks name. FABWorks provides an integrated interface between the SolidWorks® design environment and the FABWorks machining environment. Parts that are designed in SolidWorks can be automatically unfolded and transferred directly to FABWorks for machining.

SolidWorks is a registered trademark of SolidWorks Corporation.

MCAD Magazine Reviews CAMWorks

June, 2006 - "The company behind CAMWorks has been through a number of changes in the last few years. It was sold to Geometric Software Solution (or GSSL for short), a company well recognised for its work with many CAD vendors, but probably best known for adapting SolidWorks’ eDrawings technology to function with the majority of leading 2D and 3D applications. While, in many cases, an acquisition spells doom for applications, having sat down with the UK distributor NTCADCAM, it’s clear that the software has advanced rapidly in terms of both ease of use (through greater integration with SolidWorks) and functionality. The latter has expanded greatly from basic 2.5 and 3-axis, into 5-axis simultaneous and complex mill turn applications – so let’s dive in, take a look at what it can do, how it does it and how it can benefit your business."

Scottsdale, Arizona – February 2, 2006 TekSoft has established a certification program for CAMWorks value-added resellers (VARs) that measures the competencies of these professionals and identifies those resellers that can provide quality training and support services to CAMWorks customers worldwide.

The first certification class was held in September 2005 at the TekSoft Worldwide Reseller Conference. At present, resellers from the US, Germany, Japan, France, the Netherlands, Spain and Taiwan have successfully passed a comprehensive written and hands-on examination. Through experience and expertise, these Certified CAMWorks Support Technicians have demonstrated their competency in CAMWorks.

According to Michael Sours, TekSoft Application Support Director, "TekSoft is committed to delivering quality education and support services to customers throughout the world. Our goal is to certify 90% of our CAMWorks resellers by the end of the year and certification classes are scheduled at various locations in the US and internationally. We want our customers to know that the resellers they are working with have met a minimum set of standards and can provide high quality, timely and accessible software support."

Once certified, resellers will be required to meet and maintain the highest level of competency for each CAMWorks release to ensure the ongoing delivery of technical education and support for all aspects of CAMWorks.

CAMWorks is a SolidWorks® Certified Gold CAM Product that has provided state-of-the-art machining capabilities seamlessly integrated into the award winning SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software since 1997. CAMWorks can be purchased to run with the full version of SolidWorks or as part of a cost-effective package that includes a discounted OEM version of SolidWorks.

TekSoft and Lantek sign distribution agreement

FABWorks provides TekSoft customers with industry-leading CAD/CAM software for sheet metal applications

Scottsdale, Arizona – January 26, 2006 Lantek and TekSoft have signed a software licensing and distribution agreement. Under the terms of this agreement, Lantek grants TekSoft distribution rights for Lantek sheet metal software through TekSoft's international VAR network. The software for punching, laser, waterjet, plasma and oxyfuel machines will be marketed under the FABWorks name.

TekSoft, a leading provider of CAD/CAM applications since 1981, develops and markets CAMWorks, which is available for machining centers, turning, mill/turn, multiaxis and wire EDM applications. CAMWorks is a SolidWorks® Certified Gold CAM Product that provides state-of-the-art machining capabilities seamlessly integrated into SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software. FABWorks also provides an integrated interface between the SolidWorks® design environment and the FABWorks machining environment. Parts that are designed in SolidWorks can be automatically unfolded and transferred directly to FABWorks for machining.

The benefits of this agreement were clear to both companies and negotiations were concluded quickly.

“TekSoft has over 20 years of experience in developing and selling CAD/CAM software through a large VAR network. When they decided to expand their product range to include sheet metal software, they investigated the fabrication systems available in the market and talked to our competitors," stated Alberto Martínez, Lantek's Managing Director. "In addition to Lantek's best-in-class CAD/CAM software, our international reputation as a leading software company in the sheet metal industry made their decision an easy one.

According to Mike Coleman, President and CEO of TekSoft, "We seek out the best-in-class solutions, we negotiate and we license. This allows us to provide a full suite of established and proven CAM solutions while offering ongoing enhancements. The agreement with Lantek enables us to quickly offer our customers a product that is at the forefront of the sheet metal software industry." Coleman also stated that TekSoft is offering FABWorks at a significant discount to its existing ProCAM fabrication customers to encourage them to make the transition.
